Homeboy Industries

LOCATED IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

Based out of Downtown Los Angeles, Homeboy Industries is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing second chances to individuals who have experienced gang involvement or incarceration. Each year, thousands of people are welcomed into Homeboy Industries’ 18-month employment and reentry program and/or gain access to essential services.

Resources include educational programs, legal services, mental health services, laser tattoo removal, and solar panel training. The team works in a supportive, collaborative environment as part of a loving community.

The organization began in 1988 as a form of supporting individuals who were formerly involved in gangs in East Los Angeles. Homeboy Industries is now recognized as the largest gang intervention, rehabilitation, and reentry program in the world. Their five goals are to:

  1. Reduce recidivism

  2. Reduce substance abuse

  3. Improve social connectedness

  4. Improve housing safety and stability

  5. Reunify families

We work with social enterprises within Homeboy Industries, including its screen-printing social enterprise. Talented producers screen-print select reusable totes for our custom and special orders. We have also collaborated with Homegirl Cafe and Homeboy Bakery to create baked goods.
